Love this Life

The Love this Life tees have a great message and are favorites of my husband.  They are simple and comfortable, yet make a statement.

Gift Idea: For the husband, friend or dad in your life.

They also have fun tank tops for women and tees for kids!

Dear Little Girl

I once read an article in O Magazine in which three well-known women were each asked to write a letter to herself at a younger age.  What would you tell the “you” that existed 10 or 20 years ago?

When I was in law school, there was a television show in which the female lawyer was going to take a deposition for the first time (a big deal for a new lawyer).  The show depicted how this lawyer felt when she was talking to the clients by showing her as a tiny girl in a big huge chair talking to these huge people. This rang true with me.

As I was going through law school and after I became a lawyer, I often felt like a “little girl” in an adult body with a “grown-up” profession.  Sometimes, I wanted to scream, “How can you take me seriously on this huge case, I am just a little girl.”  “Can’t you see me in here?”  Of course, I never did scream and I think I was a pretty good lawyer, but I sometimes still feel like that little girl riding her bike around town dreaming of being Nancy Drew.

So, here’s what I would write to the “me” that I was 10 or 20 years ago: Read More…

kidmodern

A friend of mine recently had a baby girl and she included some wonderful kidmodern art by Gale Kaseguma, including this jellybean tree, in the nursery.  I just love it! So happy, so fresh and so lovely!

Watches

How long has the baby been sleeping? Is it time to pick the kids up from school? How much time before the babysitter arrives ? How long before I have to be at work?

Which fashion accessory can help you answer all these questions? A watch, of course! And, if you have to check yours often, as most of us do, how about buying one that makes you smile? Here are some of our favorite casual, fun watches for Fall:

Mock Croc and Plaid:

These watches (ranging from $54 to $75) are all from Pedre .  The bright colors and mock croc look are fun and unexpected.  We also love this plaid watch as a great way to wear the trend without over-doing it.

Bold and Over-sized :

Toys for Grown-ups!

These unisex watches, from Toy Watch, range from $150 to $175.  Whether it’s jeans and a sweater or lounge pants and a hoodie, these will look great!   The date function is an added bonus — one less thing to remember!   So, is it time to go to the Toy store? This time, we say yes!

Polyvore, oh my!

As you can tell from a number of recent entries, I have found a new site I love – Polyvore! It is really something you must play around with to appreciate. It is so fun and addictive and useful and has so many possibilities! I would love to see any polyvores that you come up with — let’s share!

Billy Brown - Our Friend

Billy BrownSometimes there are products that you find that you know will always bring back great memories and that you truly feel lucky to have purchased.   The Billy Brown CDs from Giddio are products like this.

There are currently three CDs from Giddio, all telling tales of Billy Brown, the friendly, talking bear, and his best friend, Emma.  Each CD uses a full cast, dialogue, sound effects and music just as vintage radio drama did . . . only Giddio’s audio adventures are just for kids.  They are suggested for kids ages 3 to 7, and this seems just right !

As the founder Jens Hewerer put it, ” [l]isteners only see Billy Brown on our CD covers, introducing the idea that he is a friendly, but strong, bear. We will never picture anybody else on our CDs, leaving the kids’ imagination to picture the characters and settings in the story as opposed to just sitting in front of a TV.”

There is something truly special about listening to these CDs.  My son and I have listened to them on trips and especially at bed time — over and over again.   We anxiously await the next installment of Billy Brown’s adventures !
