DESIGNERS SUPPORT MILITARY FAMILIES EXPECTING NEW BABIES WITH OPERATION SHOWER.

Every Wednesday, we hope to write about “giving to others” as part of our Happiness Project.   Today, I want to share with you a really wonderful company , resa design, that is hosting an online baby registry in support of Operation Shower.   Thank you Resa Design, Julian & Co and other companies that join this project!   I am so thankful for companies like this that make Operation Shower possible!

Resa Design, Julian & Co., and other independent designers have teamed up to host an online gift registry to support Operation Shower, a non-profit organization sending and hosting baby showers for expectant military spouses and personnel.

Mother and independent designer, Resa Troyer, of resadesign.com, is committed to give back to US Military families by teaming up with Operation Shower.

Beginning November 15, 2008, resadesign.com will play host to an online baby registry and shower where all the gifts go to military moms-to-be or spouses. Products from Resa Design‘s accessory line have been selected and made available at super low prices.  Customers and visitors will have the opportunity to add any of the gift registry items to their personal purchases, or shop solely for Operation Shower. Resa Design has committed to shipping the designated purchases directly to Operation Shower’s home office in St.Louis, Missouri for distribution in ‘showers-in-a-box’ and event showers on military bases.  ”I can not begin to imagine being pregnant, birthing a baby, or raising a newborn while my husband is on the other side of the world.  When I heard about Operation Shower and what they were doing I knew this was something Resa Design could get behind. Expecting a child is such a special season of life. All new mom‘s should be showered with great goodies and lots of love. Military moms-to-be and spouses deserve all our support, and if we can do that by way of special baby gifts, I’m all for it.” -Resa Design owner, Resa Troyer.

Resa Design products are not the only items available. Southern California’s Julian & Co. has also committed to participate by offering their stunning Galleria Necklace at more than 60% off. More designers and products are expected to be added in days to come and throughout the year.

Creative ways customers can get involved with the Operation Shower registry at Resadesign.com:

•Give a gift on behalf of someone else. (tribute cards are available)
•Give to Operation Shower instead of a birthday or holiday gift.
•Invite your playgroup over and gather around the computer to host a baby shower on behalf of Operation Shower.
•Have scouts raise funds and make purchases for Operation Shower.

A New Mom’s Favorite Things

We recently asked a new mom (also a pharmacist) to provide a list of the favorite things she has used in her son’s first year.  We liked her list so much, we decided to share it — in her own words ! These are great ideas (and very practical) for any new mom or mom-to-be — and are an especially great start to any baby shower registry!

Cloth diapers to use as burp rags;

Diaper Champ — I love it because it uses regular trash bags.  I use Target brand trash bags.

Butt Paste — Diaper rashes disappear in hours with this. Pharmacist recommended.

Hand sanitizer – For all those people dying to touch your baby.

Reclining feeding seat by the First Years – We don’t have a lot of room for a high chair so I got this instead and love it!

Take and toss cups, bowls and spoons;

Carter’s side-fasten velcro bibs — Much easier to use than the ones that fasten in the back;

The Floppy Seat – A must have for those trips to Target. Fits in the front of shopping carts and in the restuarant seats;

Bebe pod — My son loved this when he was first starting to sit up and I didn’t have to worry about him falling over.

Kiddopotamus car seat cover — Only practical if your baby is small during cold months;

Graco Jumpster– My son used this more than any walker, exersaucer or seat out there — a lot cheaper too;

Baby Tad — Hours of entertainment.

Old Navy Baby clothes — so cute !

Baby Einstein board books — We read them over and over .

Good digital camera — They grow up too fast; I love my Sony cybershot;

Love My Nails polish; only 93 cents at Wal-Mart so you can afford to paint your toenails a different color every week. Provides a hint of glamour in the midst of spit-up.

Disclaimer: If you are for any reason not satisfied with any of these products, I will not be giving a refund.  Happy Shopping!

Tiny Sprouts

Tiny Sprouts has always been one of my favorite on-line sites for adorable, so soft, personalized baby gifts.  I have featured them in the past, but had to write about them again and show off the Tiny Sprouts blanket we recently gave to our adorable new best friend!

Welcome to the world, Hagen!

P.s. I also LOVE these pillows

BabyLegs

We love BabyLegs – these are so cute and versatile !  They make me smile! With Fall here, they can be used as leg warmers for babies or little girls or on their arms as well.  You decide !

Resa Design

Resa Design is a really great site worth checking out for baby gifts or kids’ birthday gifts !  Resa, a mom of two boys, designs everything herself.  Her Dribbler bibs are a great size for all levels of dribblers and droolers – and are reversible !

Resa is also coming out with new receiving blankets soon, with really  fun patterns and oh so soft ! We know because she gave us a sneak peek when she generously donated blankets to Operation Shower, along with coordinating burp cloths.  We love moms and companies who give back — especially to other moms.

In addition, Resa Design carries changing pads ($24) with a great, generous size. They cover most public changing stations with ease, keeping your children’s hands from unwanted germs. When you are done, just roll it up and secure the elastic loop over the matching button. You are sure to find one you love!

Oh, and don’t forget the custom onesies — too fun!

Bibs large enough to catch all dribbles

Sofia Bean — A Favorite Gift for New Baby

One of my favorite gifts to give to new moms is the Sofia Bean baby outfits — onesies, pants, hats and blankets that are so cute and so soft ! Best of all, I love the adorable box which you can also purchase.   It comes with a red ribbon tied around it with the items inside.  Such a lovely presentation!

I have sent this gift many times, even to my own niece:

Love you, Maddie!

Pluto Tees

I love kids’ tees that are as joyous as they are.  The tees from Pluto tees at Kitsel are those kind of tees — the “pile of smiles” tee and birdie tees ($24) are my favorite ! They just make you smile.  See?
